Pingara Rajyotsava Award conferred on Joseph Crasta

Mangaluru, Nov 18, 2015 : The 11th ’Pingara Rajyotsava Award was presented to Joseph Crasta, Managing Trustee of Snehalaya Charitable Trust at a colorful celebration at Don Bosco hall on November 17.

Addressing the function Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza  said that Joseph Crasta has proved a role model to the society through his humanitarain mission. God has graced us with a lot of talents and life itself is also a  talent. "God has blessed by giving us life on earth and we need to prove our gratitude by helping the needy.   Joseph Crasta serves orphans, aged, poor, destitute and needy people through Snehalaya Charitable Trust. Right now 120 such people are cared for at Snehalaya by providing them free food, shelter and treatment," the Bishop said.

Former Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Harikrishna Punaroor said that value for the Pingara Rajyotsava Award is well recognised having been awarded to the best people,  who have served the society. Joseph Crasta well deserves the award, he said adding that   striving for the betterment of the society is a duty of everyone.

Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy President Roy Castelino said that Joseph Crasta must be a model and  inspiration to all.   President of Mangaluru Central Rotary Club Elias Sanctis too gave his message.

A Konkani Book of short stories ’Vazram Ani Mothiyan’, by Patrick Moras was released on the occasion.  Mementos were given to the guests as a token of appreciation.

Raymond D’Cunha, editor-in-chief of Pingara Weekly welcomed the gathering. Natalia D’Cunha proposed the vote of thanks.

Fr William Menezes, Elias Fernandes, Lewis J Pinto, Dr B G Suvarna, C G Pinto, C G S Taccode and others were present amid a good gathering on this occasion.
