Pillion rider dies in tragic mishap near Vittla

Bantwal, May 20, 2018: An 18 year old youth who was pillion riding a bike  has lost his life  in a tragic road mishap at Okkettur on Vittla-Mangaluru Road on May 20, Sunday.

The deceased is Mohammad Afrid, son of Kunhimonu, a resident of Okkettur in Vittla Kasaba village. Afrid who worked for a jewellery shop at Vittla was on  way towards Vittla  in his friend Mohammad Isaac’s bike when the mishap occurred.

 Eyewitnesses said  Afrid’s bike was hit by a jeep  while negotiating a curve near the Okkettur bridge. Afrid landed on the road due to the impact of the collision. Soon after, a bus that passed that way ran over him killing on the spot.

The bike rider however had a miraculous escape without injuries. Vittla Police have registered a case.
