Picnic turns tragic: 3 members of family drown in Kaup beach; 2 others rescued

Udupi, Oct 26, 2014:  Three members of a family from Karkala have reportedly drowned in the sea at Kaup on October 25, Saturday evening. The body of only one of them has been traced while search is on for the other two. Two others who were along with them have been rescued.

 

The deceased has been identified as Jagadish Rao (40).His cousin Sunil Rao (33) from Sanur and nephew Harsha (14) who hails from Bangalore are missing. Those rescued are Prajwal (14) and Harishchandra (45).

As many as 18 members of a family were making merry at Kaup beach  when tragedy struck. It is learnt they  ventured into the waters to swim even after locals warned them against doing so.

Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar and local police visited the spot.
