ramesh kumarMangaluru, Dec 11, 2016: Health minister K R Ramesh Kumar, who was admitted to the government-run Bowring & Lady Curzon Super Speciality Hospital in Bengaluru recently, said availing treatment in government did not make him feel inferior or that his status was lowered.

The minister, who was treated for diarrhea at the hospital few days ago, appealed to his colleagues and others to follow austerity in life. Answering a query regarding his experience at the government hospital, he appealed to the ministers and MLAs to be role models by choosing government hospitals and thereby, take people into confidence.

"I believe in austerity in my life. My son’s marriage was a very simple ceremony. Similarly, I have commitments as a health minister. I will be at fault if I do not stick to my obligation as a minister. On earlier occasions too, I had taken treatment at government hospitals. It never made me feel inferior when I take treatment in government hospitals. People’s faith in government hospitals increases when people like us use the facilities there," he said.
