Nandagopal of Centre for Integrated Learning launching the protest at Nehru Maidan, said that ’perverted minds’ had no place in the society here. Rape cases in Delhi and Bengaluru as well as other places are seen, now it is happening in our own neighbourhood. The candlelight protest march is to enlighten people against such atrocities and demand justice for the child.

Addressing the protest gathering at DK DC’s office gate in front of SBI, Renny D’Souza, state convener of CLC Karnataka said that it is shocking no action has been taken against the school and therefore this protest march was being conducted. POCSO Act has to be implemented in the right spirit, action is a must against the criminal/s. Children must be made aware about their safety. This is only a beginning of unrest. The government and the police must sit up and take note now and take all steps that  such incidents do not occur ever in the future.

Activist Manjula said that the police have failed to take reasonable action and noted suspicions that the case was being hushed up.  The school management must be taken to task for a total lack of concern and failing to take  responsibility for the school driver’s crime. She demanded action against the school and also a speedy probe into the case so that justice is done to the victim and her family at the earliest. She demanded that the district administration and the education department must have proper  security measures in schools in the district effectively.  Vidya Dinker of Citizens’ Forum, Sachita Nandagopal, Umar U H and others among a large gathering of concerned public participated.
