Pension scheme cards distributed among tailors

Mangalore, Sep 20, 2011: The Karnataka State Tailors Association (KSTA) today organized a district-level convention, during which government pension scheme cards were distributed.

District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar inaugurated the event and said in his inaugural address that 610 pension scheme cards have been distributed among the DK members of the association and 593 cards have been distributed among the Udupi members, making it a total of 2074 cards distributed.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

N. Yogesh Bhat, the deputy speaker, was the guest of honor. Speaking of the importance of extending the benefits of the Rashtriya Swasthya Bhima Yojana, he said that the issue has been raised in the budget meeting. Congratulating the tailors’ association for getting the government pension scheme, he said that the issue of extending the term to 10 years will be discussed in assembly.

He also said that the government has a health insurance scheme for tailors and that 496 beneficiaries have been identified so far. He urged tailors to grab all the government benefits due to them.

Ramesh Madur, the district president of the Karnataka State Tailors’ Association, presided over the event. Stating that tailors have no job security or social security because they work on a commission basis, he said that they deserve to be brought under the New Pension Scheme.

The association is also demanding scholarships for tailors’ children, maternity allowances for women tailors, housing schemes, financial aid for marriages, loans with low rates, and so on.

The dignitaries on the dais were MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA U. T. Khader, MLA Ramanath Rai, MLA Mallika Prasad, MLA Kota Shrinivas Poojary, and others.
