The seer who is currently observing Chaturmasya in Chennai, said that, when he had launched a hunger fast this January, late Dr. V. S. Acharya and D. V. Sadananda Gowda, who was the CM of Karnataka at the time, had promised him that all problems related to the UPCL will be solved. Now, the government is making preparations to launch yet another unit of UPCL without solving the problems created by the first unit. Calling it inhuman, the swamiji said that the government must not approve the opening of the second unit without first solving the environmental problems caused by the first unit.

Stating that the government has completely ignored the expert committee’s report recommending remedial measures, he said that the people of the region must protest against this peacefully. As the Chaturmasya Vrith comes to an end on September 30, he said that he will take part in the protest after that date.
