Passenger smuggling gold inside suitcase arrested at MIA

Mangaluru, Feb 05, 2015: A passenger who had hidden gold worth Rs 15.90 lakhs inside the inner cover of two trolley suitcases was arrested  at the Mangaluru International Airport on February 4, Wednesday.The passenger identified as Mohammad Basheer from Pallatungal in Tekkil, Kasargod had  arrived by a Jet Airways  flight.

 

The gold hidden inside the suitcase, had been converted into thin sheets and was detected during checking of baggages.

The operation was led by Udayashankeran N, Assistant Commissioner of Customs.
