Agumbe, Dec 2, 2016: It is reported from hebri that the Agumbe Ghat Road, that connects Malnad with Coastal Karnataka, has been closed for traffic for repair work from Dec 1,  Thursday.  A three-km stretch on the Agumbe Ghat, between Padubidri and Chikkalgoodu in Thirthahalli taluk of Shivamogga district, will be asphalted.

Agumbe Ghat is the nearest route from Shivamogga to Mangaluru via Hebri and Udupi. The ambulances from Shivamogga to Manipal travel on this stretch. The stretch had developed potholes during the monsoon and was causing inconvenience to vehicle users.

Concrete road has been laid from the seventh curve of the Agumbe Ghat till the Gate. The Agumbe Ghat stretch in Udupi district is narrow and the density of vehicle on the stretch has been increasing over the years.

There will be no problem for the movement of vehicles from Shivamogga to Thirthahalli. Vehicles should go via National Highway 13, through Koppa, Sringeri and Bajagoli to go to Udupi and Karkala. Vehicles from Thirthahalli can take the Mastikatte-Balebare Ghat and from Siddapura to Kandluru to reach Kundapura and Baindur.
