Parallel Highway to come up from Netravathi banks to Kannur masjid : MLA Lobo

Mangaluru, Jan 16,2017 :  Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo   on January 16, Monday inspected the place where the proposed parallel  highway would come up   from the banks of river Netravathi upto Kannur masjid by  travelling in a boat for nearly three hours. The proposed parallel highway will connect the main National Highway.

 Speaking to reporters after arriving at the Netravathi river banks after his survey, the MLA said the four-lane, 50 meter wide parallel highway will be a special contribution to the tourism development of the region.

Stating that no house would be vacated for the construction of the road, he directed the officials to conduct a survey at the earliest and also to  study the possibility of constructing the road without  scope for any eviction.

This parallel highway when completed will help local people and will also connect the Kerala-Karnataka highway. Private land would be acquired only if inevitable, Lobo said.

He  further stated that the state government has  sanctioned Rs 25 lakhs for the survey works and urged the National Highway Authority,  Revenue Department, PWD and MCC  to work in co-ordination and complete the survey works in minimum two weeks.

Addressing locals who greeted him, Lobo assured that  the project implementation would not inconvenience them in any way.

Praveenchandra Alva, Corporator,  Kantharaj, PWD Superintendent Engineer, Abdul Rahiman, NH Executive Engineer, Lingegowda, MCC Executive Engineer and others accompanied the MLA.
