Pandeshwar police arrest six on charges of kidnap and assault

Mangalore, Mar 20: Mangalore South (Pandeshwar) police arrested 6 persons on grounds of kidnapping and threatening to take life with regard to a loan deal on March 20, Saturday. 

The arrested are Niyaz of Talapady, Rahamatulla of Mudipu, Siddique of Madoor, Rafeeq of Ullal, and Mohammed Ashraf and K H Ismail of Kinya. They stand accused of kidnapped Abdul Khader of Majalthota near Kuttar and demanding the return of a loan of Rs 2.5 lakh taken by Ahmed Bava, his father.

Ahmed Bava had taken the loan from K C Mohammed of Talapady an year ago. Niyaz, son of K C Mohammed, masterminded the kidnapping of Abdul Khader and demanding the immediate return of the loan. Ahmed Bava, in the meantime, had disappeared. Niyaz and his associates put the plan into action on March 19, Friday. 

The six intercepted the car in which Khader was riding and dragged him into a Omni vehicle that was going toward Someshwar near Ullal. The accused then harassed him physically as well as mentally with abusive words. They also threatened to kill him within one month if he failed to return the loan. They then abandoned Khader near Mahakali Padpu, which comes under the jurisdiction of the Pandeshwar police. 

The police registered a case and arrested the accused. Later, the accused were produced in court.
