Palemar inaugurates RAYARATHA, the light and sound show on Krishnadevaraya

Mangalore, Mar 5: District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar inaugurated the spectacular light and sound show titled “Rayaratha,” illustrating the magic of Vijayanagara under the rule of Krishnadevaraya on Nehru Maidan on March 5, Saturday.

In his inaugural address, the minister said that this show is the first of its kind in Mangalore and added that it ought to benefit a large number of people as it is organized by the government. He also voiced his opinion that shows related to the history of the state will go a long way in strengthening its culture and traditions. Such shows are a great way to relate historical tales to the future generations, he added.

This 1-hour show deals with significant aspects of the empire of Vijayanagara, including the birth, coronation, marriage, and political relationships of Shri Krishnadevaraya along with illustrations of the stone chariot, the Ugra Narasimha idol, the Vittala Temple, the Hampi Bazaar, the Anjaneya Hill, the Akka-Thangi boulder, and other memorials of the empire.

The purpose of this government-organized show is to create awareness on the glories of the Vijayanagar Empire and the greatness of its king among the people. Simultaneously, it commemorates the 500th anniversary of the coronation of Shri Krishnadevaraya.

Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, MLA U. T. Khader, DC Subodh Yadav, ZP President Shailaja Bhat, and Pradeep Kumar Kalkura were also present during the inauguration ceremony.
