Padubidri : 2 MESCOM linemen arrested for molesting minor girl

Mangalore, July 11, 2014: Padubidri police, in  a swift operation have arrested two MESCOM personnel on the charges of attempting to  rape a minor girl. The incident is learnt to have taken place on July 9, Wednesday evening.

Those arrested are Surendra Devadiga (29) of Nandikur and Raviraj Kulal (32) of Brahmavar, Both are linemen in  MESCOM local branch.

It is learnt,  Surendra  had followed a  minor girl while she was walking on the roadside, intercepted her and tried to molest her. Sources said   Raviraj encouraged Surendra in the act. However,  a local farmer who saw the girl    struggling in his clutches, rescued the girl.

The girl who rushed home informed her father who arrived to the place where the MESCOM personnel were on duty  and took them to task.

It is learnt, the duo who were fearless also warned of dire consequences if a police complaint was lodged.

The girl’s family mustered courage and lodged a complaint at Padubidri police station on July 10, Thursday morning and  the duo were arrested the same day.
