Udupi, Aug 19,2017: In a new development in the case of suspicious death of Padmapriya, the wife of former Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, the Supreme Court has declined to stay the investigations against Atul Rao said to be one of the accused in the case.
Padmapriya who went missing on June 11, 2008 was found hanging in an apartment in Delhi a few days later. The allegation then was Padmapriya had escaped with the help of Atul Rao and a former driver of the ex-MLA.
It was in the year 2014 that a court in Bengaluru had directed holding of a CoD investigation into the role of Atul in the case following a petition filed by Raghupathi Bhat.
Later, a petition was moved in the SC seeking stay on investigation of Atul, but the same has now been turned down by a three member bench of the Supreme Court.
