Mangaluru, Nov 06 2019: Speaking to reporters in the city on November 5,  Tuesday, Dr Y Bharath Shetty, Mangalore North MLA, has accused the Congress of failing to handle the Pacchanady dumping yard issue and underground drainage lines in 22 wards of the MCC in his constituency.

He alleged that in spite of the health wing of the MCC submitting a report on the need to construct a retaining wall around the yard and warning that the disaster that might recur, the Congress-led Council of the Corporation has failed to take measures.

Speaking further, he stated the Pacchanady yard has a capacity to convert 150 tonne waste into manure. As the yard was receiving more than 150 tonne garbage, all the waste was dumped into the yard instead of converting it into manure.”

MLA Shetty added that Antony Waste Handling Cell Pvt Ltd, which handles solid waste management for the MCC, has failed to adhere to the terms and conditions laid down in the MCC contract.

Alleging corruption in the Rs 306-crore UGD works in Mangalore City North constituency, he said the UGD system has failed.

“Minister Roshan Baig promised to order a probe if he found corruption in implementing UGD works after visiting Surathkal, Krishnapura and Katipalla in the constituency, but failed to act,” said the MLA Shetty.
