Mangalore, Aug 6, 2014 : Karnataka Bank Managing Director and CEO P Jayaram Bhat launched the Corporate Social Responsibility Journey of PNB Metlife with the Bank on August 5, Tuesday.
The Programme named Gurukul is supported by Karnataka Bank and will focus on education and development of underprivileged children in the state. In DK district it aims to brighten the future of around 12000 under privileged children with the help of Prajna Counselling Centre. Another similar project has been taken up in Raichur District.
The launching ceremony was held in the presence of Christopher Townsend, President, Asia MetLife Inc, Mahabaleshwara MS, Chief General Manager of the Bank, Tarun Chugh, MD and CEO of PMLI, Suma Ravi, Regional Director, South CRY and Prof. Hilda Rayappan, Director Prajna Counselling Centre, Mangalore.
In his address, P Jayaram Bhat said the Bank was delighted to launch the CSR Programme with its banc assurance partner PNB Metlife with whom it is associated since 12 years.
Christopher Townsend who also spoke said his company has many projects across the globe with an aim to empower local communities through the MetLife Foundation.
Hilda Rayappan who also spoke, said the programme will help in improving the quality of crèches in the district which are benefitting around 750 kids of migrant labourers and domestic helps.
Bala Chandrashekhar of PNB MetLife compered the programme.
