Overflowing Sewage Water affects Business in Bunder

Mangalore, May 5, 2012: People and businessman in Mohammed Ali road in Bunder are affected by the stench of the overflowing sewage water from the last six days. Drain water has accumulated in front of several shops and has caused discomfort to several pedestrians.


Despite calls to Mangalore City Corporation authorities, nothing was done in the last few days. Locals from Bunder are also reported to have called the MCC Commissioner to inform about the overflowing sewage water.

Locals say that a few workers had arrived a couple of days ago to repair, but had returned abruptly without finishing the job.


Several shops near the open drain were closed on Friday, owing to the stench rising from the sewage water. Also business in several hotels and bakeries in the region were affected as customers preferred to avoid eateries due to the odour in the streets.
