Over speeding Airavatha bus lands in drain; woman passenger dies

Nelyady, May 12, 2015: A woman from Mysore who was  travelling in a KSRTC Airavatha Bus  which was on way to Manipal from Mysore,  lost her life  when the driver of the bus in order to avert collision with an oncoming lorry, veered the vehicle to the road side eventually landing the bus in a nearby drain during the early hours of May 11, Monday.

The deceased woman has been identified as Dhanalakshmi (45). A few other passengers in the bus also sustained injuries in the mishap. Sources said the bus was over speeding resulting in the accident wherein the bus landed straight  on the bamboo bush.

It has been gathered that Dhanalakshmi along with Padmashree of Kuvempu Nagar in Mysore was on way  to the Ujire Naturopathy Treatment Centre when tragedy struck. She was seated close by the window and the bamboo shoots hit her head resulting in her death.

The bus was removed from the spot using a crane. Puttur Traffic police have registered a case.
