Mangaluru, Jan 13, 2015: Over 400 differently abled children from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasargod districts had a gala time at the Canara High School premises at Dongerkeri here on January 12, Monday. The occasion was a Special Fest for the Special Children. Asha Jyothi, a unit of Seva Bharathi was the organiser of the event.
The differently abled kids thoroughly enjoyed the day. They not only exhibited their talents but also took part in various games and sports. The fest was inaugurated by AJ Shetty, Chief of AJ Group of Institutions.
City Mayor Mahabala Maarla who presided over the function, said the Mangaluru City Corporation has been providing all facilities to the differently abled. The government facilities for the differently abled children can reach the target group when institutions which are working towards rehabilitation of such children, register themselves through proper channels, he further added.
Rangaswami, Deputy General Manager of Corporation Bank and Gajanana Pai, Trustee of Seva Bharathi were present as chief guests.
All the participants were provided free food and refreshments. There was even an amusement section and kids could even enjoy a camel and horse ride. A health check up camp was also conducted for the special kids on the occasion.
