Mangaluru, Mar 7, 2015 : Former union minister Oscar Fernandes laid the foundation for the Janasanjeevini Generic Medical Centre at the Government Wenlock Hospital in the city on March 7, Saturday. The Shraddhanjali Vehicle donated by the Sasvat and UT Fareed Foundation was also inaugurated by Oscar on the occasion.
Oscar who spoke on the occasion said Wenlock Hospital has been a ray of hope for the poor from not only the district but also outside districts.
State Health Minister UT Khader who was present as a chief guest said such generic medical centres offering generic drugs will be opened in all districts within the next three months. Generic medicines will be available at concessional rates at these centres, he informed. The Minister also stated that Wenlock Hospital will soon be equipped with better facilities including CT Scan and MRI.
JR Lobo, MLA of Mangaluru South, Mohiuddeen Bava, MLA of Mangaluru North, Ivan D’Souza, MLC, Rajeshwari Devi, District Medical Officer and several others were present.
