Online Fraud: Duo jailed

Mangaluru, Mar 29, 2019: A court in Mangaluru has on Thursday  sentenced two persons to one year   and nine months prison  for  fleecing a woman of Ullal of lakhs of rupees  by contacting her through online.

Those convicted are Lalthan Mavia (36) of Aizwal and Kook Boi (33) of Manipur.  The duo had contacted Violet D’Souza of Ullal on May 9, 2017 through her friend in London and  had asked her to remit Rs 21,58,200 towards clearance of a parcel with foreign currency. Following a complaint, the police had arrested the duo at New Delhi in June 2017.
