One more woman in Bantwal tests positive for Coronavirus

Mangaluru, April 26, 2020: Yet another Coronavirus positive case has been reported from Dakshina Kannada district on Sunday. The women identified as P-501, is a 47-year-old woman from Narikombu in Bantwal, has been admitted in the isolation ward of the district Wenlock Hospital, the designated Covid hospital.

P-501 was working as a helper in First Neuro Hospital at Padil on the city outskirts, where P-432, a septuagenarian stroke patient was admitted for treatment. She incidentally is the mother-in-law of P-390, the first patient to succumb to the virus in the district.

The district administration has stepped up efforts to obtain the test reports of all the patients, staff and doctors at First Neuro Hospital. Dr Ramachandra Bairy, district health officer told that out of 177 swab reports of those in the hospital, the authorities here have received 157 reports and one of them was positive. “We are awaiting reports on the remaining swabs since some of them had to be sent to Bengaluru and other centres for testing,” Dr Bairy added.


With the latest case, the total Coronavirus positive cases in Bantwal has risen to five. All the five are women and two have already died.

Of the 19 positive cases reported in the district so far, 12 have been cured and discharged. Two have died and five are undergoing treatment.
