Oil tanker brake failure claims one life, injuring four others

Mangalore, Dec 25, 2013: In an accident, an oil tanker brake failure claims one life and seriously injures four others at Gurpurpete on December 25, Wednesday.


According to the eyewitnesses, an empty oil tanker bearing the registration of Tamil Nadu was moving towards Mangalore, when it suddenly lost its brake at Gurpurpete.

The tanker which was on high speed went out of control and collided into Maruti Eco and a Swift, injuring its passengers.


During the incident, the oil tanker also razed down Suvarna tailoring shop and Swagat tea stall located in the area.


Later the tanker hit two women walking towards the bus stop from the temple and killed one, leaving other seriously injured.


The injured were taken to AJ Hospital for treatment.


Fire service personnel and Bajpe police rushed to the spot. The case has been registered.
