Novel method of smuggling gold busted at Mangalore Airport

Mangalore, Oct 10, 2014: The officers of Customs at Mangalore International Airport seized 204.000 grams of gold, valued at Rs.5,50,800/-, concealed in the form of a measuring tape, buckles of a rexine travel bag, buckles of sandals, handles of hair brush and pen refill which were all kept in a travel bag carried by the passenger arrived from Dubai.

The passenger Sarfras Povval Mohammed Kunhi(30), a resident of Nagarakatte Cross Road, Fort Road,  Kasaragod, who arrived at Mangalore International Airport on 9th October 2014 at about 10.15pm by Air India Express flight IX 384 from Dubai. Further investigation is under progress.
