The Minister who was participating in a function organised at Town Hall to felicitate the new President and members of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy, surprisingly chose to speak much about himself and his secular credentials after initially speaking about language, literature and culture.
Pointing out that his constituency has more Muslims, he said despite the opposition party fielding a Muslim candidate against him , he could win.
Referring to a recent comments of a Union Minister on secularists, Rai said "we secular people are aware of our ancestry unlike them."
