He was speaking to reporters during his visit to the city on August 26, Friday to participate in a progress review meet of the Fisheries Department at the DC office here.

Continuing, the Minister said the Centre was yet  to release the Rs 33 crore   meant for the Third Phase Extension of the Fisheries Jetty at Mangaluru as well as the Rs 8 crore towards development of Malpe Port. Now that the Centre has said that grants would be sanctioned for the new jetty construction at Kulai on 50-50 basis along with the state government, it will be a financial burden to the Centre, Madhwaraj observed.

He also stated that  a delegation of elected representatives from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada will be taken to the Centre  next month to discuss the above issues.
