Mangaluru, Sep 25, 2016: Police in Mangaluru are considering the possibility of raiding the Facebook office at Bengaluru in the backdrop of the failure of the social networking site to respond positively to the appeal made by the city Police seeking details regarding the abusive posts made against Kateel Goddess.
After complaints regarding the case of insult to the Kateel Goddess in social sites were lodged in Bantwal, Bunder and Bajpe police stations, the police had written to the Facebook office seeking more details. It is learnt the Commissioner’s offer had written two letters to the Face Book office which have not been responded so far. The Bunder Police too had sent two notices.
Here it is worth mentioning that several cases regarding misuse of social sites have been reported in the district.
Sources said the Police were planning to seek the court’s permission to raid the Facebook office.
Commenting on the development, City Police Commissioner Chandra Shekhar said " We cannot say whether we will raid office of any social site or not. No institution is above the safety and security of the people and law of the land." "Our Department is continuing its efforts to trace the accused who post abusive status in social sites," he added.
