Udupi, April 9, 2015: Om Prakash, DG and IGP has said that there was no question of tolerating moral policing in the district and that those  involving in the act will be dealt with an iron hand.

He was speaking to reporters at the Coast Guard Administrative Office at Malpe on April 8, Wednesday.

Stating that the Police Department was keeping a watch on the happenings, the IGP said all those  responsible for such incidents will face strict action. However, the problem cannot be solved within one day, he asserted.

Touching upon the issue of safety of women and also the cases of atrocities on women, the IGP said the police personnel are sensitized on the way to deal with cases pertaining to women and added special workshops are also being organised.

He said the Department was taking steps to fill the vacancies 

On Naxal activities in the Western Ghats, he said that the situation was under control and effective actions have been taken by the police and the ANF to contain such activities.

To a question on the Bengaluru student Gautami who was shot dead at a hostel recently, he declined to comment and said it would not be right to talk about the details of the case while the investigation was in progress.

He further said the police officers were doing a good job, putting their best and honest efforts and doing unbiased work to curtail anti-social elements.

 and added over 8000 new personnel have been recruited this year so far.

Referring to the Naxal menace, the IGP said the Police and the ANF are  striving hard to check the Naxal activities.
