No question of replacing Yeddyurappa: V S Acharya

Udupi, March 25: Higher Education Minister V.S. Acharya said  that Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa would complete his five-year term and there was no question of any replacement.


He told presspersons here that the reports that his (Dr. Acharya’s) name was in the list of likely replacements in case Mr. Yeddyurappa stepped down, were irrelevant.


The State had seen a lot of progress after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power.


The Union Planning Commission, which had reviewed the progress of the State, was all praise for it. The commission had approved a Rs. 38,070-crore annual plan for the State for 2011-12. The progress achieved by Karnataka could be a model for other States, he said.


The higher education sector in the State had made rapid strides.


Many degree and engineering colleges had been opened in the State. Priority was being given to improvement of quality in the sector, Dr. Acharya said.
