Nitte University signs MoU with University of Miyazaki, Japan for active research co-operation

Mangaluru, Sept 15, 2016: An exchange of Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Miyazaki, Japan and Nitte University, Mangalore, India was held at the University Campus, Deralakatte, Mangaluru on 15th September, 2016.

Prof. Dr. Indrani Karunasagar, Director (R & D), Nitte University and Dr. Anirban Chakraborty, an alumnus of Miyazaki University were instrumental in planning the research co-operation between Nitte University and University of Miyazaki. Prof. Indrani’s first invitation to Prof. Harish Madhyastha, Indo-Japan Coordinator, Miyazaki University lay the foundation for the active research co-operation between the two Universities which was followed by a visit of 11 member team comprising young faculty and students lead by Dr.Anirban Chakraborty.

The visiting Japanese delegation from the University of Miyazaki, Japan included the President of the University Prof. Dr. Tsuyomu Ikenoue, Vice-President, Prof. Dr. Toshiaki Itami, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Masugi Maruyama, Co-ordinator, Global Support Office, Ms. Ishikawa Saki and the Indo-Japan Co-ordinator, Dr. Harish Madhyastha. The primary objective of the visit of the Japan delegation is to further scientific co-operation in the field of Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, Nursing, Biomedical and Allied Health Sciences research.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ramananda Shetty representing Nitte University and Prof. Dr. Tsuyomu Ikenoue, President, University of Miyazaki exchanged the documents pertaining to staff and student exchange in academics and research in the presence of the Chancellor, Mr. Vinaya Hegde, Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Shantharam Shetty, Registrar, Prof. M.S. Moodithaya and other Officials and Heads of Institutes of Nitte University and University of Miyazaki.
