Nitte University holds seventh convocation ceremony

Mangaluru, Sep 10, 2017: The path which we choose to reach our goal in life is far more important than everything else, said Prof. S Rajashekharan,  Chairman of SICOT, Belgium and Ganga Hospital , Coimbatore.

Delivering the Convocation address during the seventh annual convocation ceremony of Nitte University held at K S Hegde Auditorium of Nitte University on September 9, Saturday, he said  knowledge gained should always  be put to use for the betterment of the society. He further exhorted students not to forget the hard efforts  of their parents.

N Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University who presided over the function, also stressed the need for students to always  love and honour their alma mater and also  acknowledge the sacrifices of their parents in shaping a bright future for them.

Gold medals were awarded to outstanding students including  Dr Anita Keshan( Dr A K Munshi gold medal in MDS), Dr Kong Shu Fey (Dr U S Mohandas Nayak and Nitte University gold medal in BDS), Dr Shefali Prabhakar (Mulky Rammohan Adyantaya and Nitte University gold medal in bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery department), Chaitra R Shetty, Vineeta Sunny, Saraswathi Shreshta, Kavya Dithal and Sonam N Kille.

The Gold medal in journalism and mass communication went to Ritika Raveendra Prabhu while Athira Rajeev won gold medal in medical imaging technology.

A total of 31 students received Ph.D degrees, while 221 received  post graduate and graduate degrees in medicine. A total of 136 received dental graduate and post graduate degrees, while 123 received degrees in  Pharmacy, 113 in nursing, 33 in physiotherapy,  36 in biological science and 39 in allied health sciences.

 Dr Ramananda Shetty, Registrar, Dr Shantharam Shetty, Pro-Chancellor, Dr M S Moodittaya, Dean of KSHEMA and others were present.
