Newly sworn-in Madhwaraj to work for development

Udupi, June 20, 2016: Pramod Madhwaraj, a first-time MLA, was sworn in as a minister in Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s Cabinet in Bengaluru on June 19, Sunday.


Pramod Madhwar...Minister Madhwaraj, who represents Udupi in the Legislative Assembly, told media over phone that he is happy that he has been made a minister in recognition of service. He said he has been given an opportunity to serve people in a better way and he will give his best to keep the confidence the party high command and the chief minister has placed in him.

He is yet to be allotted a portfolio.   He said he will chalk out plans for development after the allocation of the portfolio.   He added he will try to develop the district in all possible ways. He declined to comment about the district in-charge responsibility and added that he is unaware whether he will given that responsibility.

He said he was clueless till the last minute though he heard the rumors that he will be inducted into the Cabinet. "This development has come as a surprise to me," he added.

He said he will bring in positive changes towards better development of the district. "I will do justice to the portfolio assigned to me. I will utilise the unique opportunity to lay strong foundation for the party in the district. I will take all the party members into confidence and work for the party’s growth in the district. There are no differences within the party over the change in the ministerial candidate in the district. It is all up to the party high command and all the members should accept the party’s decision irrespective of personal aspirations. The party stands united and there is no confusion within the party as stated by certain forces."

Pramod Madhwaraj, who is actively involved in Congress from the past 25 years, has won the Assembly election with more than 40,000 vote margin. In November 2015. He was appointed as parliamentary secretary for revenue minister.

He has served as secretary of Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress. He regularly holds meetings with officials, besides paying surprise visits to all government offices to monitor the progress in development works. He has ensured that 10,000 BPL ration cards are distributed in his constituency. He has also worked to ensure electrification for 850 BPL houses under Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Project. It is hoped that he will  bring good results to his region.
