New twist to missing case of 2 school girls; Trio arrested on rape charges

 Karkala,mAR 9, 2014 :   There has been a new twist to the case of  missing of two  high school girls  from Anekere in Karkala taluk recently.

3 arrestedThough the students were traced at Bijapur and  have been entrusted to the care of their parents, in a new development, police have arrested three youngsters on the charges of kidnapping the two girls, both class IX student sof the SNV School at Anekere.

The girls Suma V and Harshitha, both 15 years old and hailing from Doopadakatte had left home after one of them collected cash from her parents saying she had to pay the school fee. The girls had then travelled to Udupi and from there to Bijapur. Police who launched a search for them after their parents lodged  a missing complaint, traced them in a tourist spot at Bijapur. A case of kidnapping had been registered as the families of the girls were unsure if their daughters had deserted their homes on their own or if they were taken away by someone.

It has now been gathered that the three youth namely Manju (25), Satish (26), and Nikhit (22), all locals had lured the girls to come with them to a lodge where the girls, both minors  were reportedly raped.

Police have booked the youth under Section 376 of IPC.
