Annaiah Gowda 1Uppinangady, April 23, 2014: The case of murder of Annaiah Gowda, a farmer by unidentified assailants on the night of April 19, Saturday at his house  near Kokkada in Kalanja village has taken a new twist with the arrest of the deceased farmer’s wife Amitha and her paramour Rudresh, a forest officer in Kalanja.

It is now suspected that an illicit relationship between the two had led to the murder of Annaiah Gowda.

It is learnt, the two have confessed their guilt. Police said Amitha who manages a tailoring shop at Kokkada was  having an affair with the forest officer who used to visit her house at night  when her husband was away. Locals who were aware of this had once even burnt the two-wheeler of the  officer  parked outside the house.

Police said on that fateful night, Rudresh had called Amitha and  expressed his desire to  visit her. However, Amitha turned down his demand saying her husband was at home. But, when a drunken Rudresh persisted, she asked him to  enter the house by dislodging the roof tiles. Though Rudresh did as told by Amitha,  Annaiah Gowda on hearing the sound had opened the back door and had confronted Rudresh.  Later Rudresh in a fit of anger hit Gowda with an iron rod killing him.

It is learnt, Amitha had also sent her two elder children to a relative’s house during summer holidays so that they do not come in the way of her merriment with Rudresh.

 Investigations are underway.
