Puttur, Sep 05, 2016: As per the new rule enforced by the Police Department, organisers of processions during festivals, particularly in sensitive areas have to furnish a bond of Rs 10 lakh to ensure that they are cautious enough to see that the programmes are held peacefully without any scope for untoward incidents.
Referring to the new rule, SP Bhushan G Borase, who was speaking to reporters here, said the new rule is only aimed at ensuring peace as the police cannot provide security at the innumerous places where the Ganeshotsava is celebrated and processions are held. At the same time he said the new rule will not be imposed in 98 per cent of the cases where the festivals are held peacefully.
On this occasion, the SP also warned of stern action against those who take law into hands in the name of cattle protection.
ASP Rishwanth, Mahesh Prasad, Inspector of Puttur town police station and others were present.
