New engineers glitter at SJEC 12th convocation

Mangaluru, Nov 12, 2017: Dr Karisiddappa, Honourable Vice Chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University – Belgaum, congratulated the fresh engineers, products of St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) – Vamanjoor, Mangaluru, on their successful graduation which marks the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance, and diligence. In his address, Honourable Vice Chancellor expressed his admiration for the academic excellence and high standards of teaching and learning environment at SJEC. Wishing the graduates, a bright future ahead, Dr Karisiddappa spoke about the excellent technical education available  in Karnataka and invited the Graduates to stay involved with SJEC and Visvesvaraya Technological University and contribute to the society and the Country.

The 12th Graduation Ceremony was held on 11th November 2017 in the SJEC Open Air Stage. The ceremony witnessed the awarding of Graduation Certificates by the institution to the Class of 2017 comprising of 575 undergraduates (B.E.), 118 Postgraduates (MBA, MCA, and M.Tech.) and 05 Doctoral Degrees. Dr Karisiddappa, Honourable Vice Chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University – Belgaum, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and presented the degree certificates to the graduands.  Richard Lobo, Senior Vice President, Head HR of Infosys Limited was the Guest of Honour. Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangaluru and President – SJEC, presided over the ceremony.

Infosys VP Richard Lobo, shared with the graduates three important facts. I, even though the graduates have achieved education the process of learning will continue. He further asked them to be ready to receive learning from unexpected quarters as they move on in life. II, he asked the graduates to put in the hard work and not refuse total hands-on experiences. III, he asked the graduates to be updated on evolving technologies and to keep pace with the profession. Finally, he requested the graduates to be happy in life irrespective of career and other considerations.

In his Presidential Address, Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangaluru and President – SJEC, congratulated the Graduates and thanked the parents for their trust in choosing SJEC. The Bishop thanked the Management of SJEC and expressed his happiness in SJEC being awarded the Best Performing College in the State (Projects) by the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology – Bengaluru. He stated that, education is the key that opens many doors in life and asked the graduates to be focused and committed in achieving their dreams.

Rev.Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Director – SJEC, Dr Joseph Gonsalvis, Principal – SJEC, and Rev. Rohith D’Costa, Assistant Director – SJEC, were present for the Ceremony. Dr Ramananda H.S., Head of the Department of Mathematics, and Ms Evita Coelho, Chairperson of SJEC Alumni Association, also felicitated the Graduates.
