Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the market Minister Khader said, "Mangaluru stands in second place after Bengaluru in terms of development. The infrastructure of Mangaluru is highly appreciated across the state. A well planned Urwa market was our dream. Former MLA JR Lobo and MUDA chairman Suresh Ballal did initial planning for this market. After the administration of MCC, engineering team and contractors completed the work of new building within a short time. I appreciate all who worked behind this new project. As a part of smart city, various developmental projects will take place across city. These are planned to bring a new smartness to our dear Mangaluru.

MLC and secretary of Parliamentary Affairs Ivan D Souza spoke on the occasion and said, "The new Urwa market looks like a five star facility. I have a request to people to keep the premises clean and also maintain the building. If our markets are clean our kitchens will also remain clean. Markets are very essential in various corners of the city. Government is considering this very seriously and hopes that in upcoming days more markets will come to city. If people support, the work will be done very quickly and smoothly.”

MLA Vedavyas Kamath gave the presidential speech and said, "In our nation people purchase shoes from air conditioned showrooms. However, the essential food items are sold on road side. It is hard reality of our nation. But Urwa market is available for common vendors and they can do business in this market with good facilities. It is my request to citizens of Mangaluru to use this facility well and make all concerned productive. ”
