New Urban Development Minister Sorake assures top priority to restoring Mangalore’s dented image

Mangalore, May 20, 2013: Vinaykumar Sorake, the new minister for Urban Development was accorded a warm welcome by a large number of Congress workers and admirers when he arrived at the Airport on May 20, Monday after swearing in as a minister.

Speaking to media men on the occasion, Sorake exuded confidence that a comprehensive plan for the overall development of the fast growing city like Mangalore would soon be worked out. He said a meeting with officials of the Urban Development Department would be convened on May 22.

The new minister said top priority would be accorded to restoring the image of the city which has taken a beating due to moral policing incidents. The police department would be issued stern instructions to take precautionary measures to prevent the occurrence of such incidents, he said.

On the encroachment of government lands and unauthorized constructions, Sorake said the government would be issuing title deeds to those poor who have been residing in Government lands over a long period of time.
