Nejaru murder case: Accused Praveen may be shifted to central jail

Udupi, Nov 27, 2023: It has been learnt that police are trying to shift Praveen Arun Chowgule, the accused in the Nejaru murder case to the Central Jail considering the gravity of the crime.

 

Praveen is presently lodged in the District Prison at Hiriyadka and is  placed in a separate cell with special security. Police Department is now contemplating to shift him to some other central prison and are reportedly in discussion with higher-ups.

The Hiriyadka Jail officials have already sought permission from the Udupi court for his shifting and received permission for the same. Presently officials are waiting for the approval of Department higher-ups. There are a total of eight central prisons in the state and Praveen may be sifted to anyone of them.
