Need of spl team to nab cattle thieves, Khader impresses on Centre

Mangaluru, Apr 10, 2018: Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader said that the issue of theft of cattle from a gaushala in Kairangala should not be politicised.

Speaking out on April 9,  Monday, he said that the real culprits should be arrested. The police should constitute a special team to arrest the culprits. The arrest of the real culprits will bring out the truth.

He urged the Centre to ban cow slaughter instead of staging protest against cow slaughter and cattle theft for political mileage. Highest quantity of beef is exported from India especially from Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. “Congress was responsible for Green Revolution, while the BJP is involved in Pink Revolution, especially in the export of beef.”


The minister said that consumption of beef is not confined to any particular caste or religion. It is a food habit in different parts of the country. “I had been demanding a check post on the border of Kerala near Kairangala for the last several years. However, the protesters, protesting against cattle theft have not made any such demand,” he said.

Speaking on Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat’s remark of cleansing the temples visited by Khader, he said, “Such statements are issued by those who do not have knowledge about their culture and tradition. India is known for its pluralistic society, where people from all castes and religions live in harmony. I believe in the pluralistic society.”

He added, “All religions believe that forgiveness is a noble virtue. I will continue to visit Hindu temples in the future. My visit to temples was never a part of my political agenda. I have learnt to respect all religions, and we have been living harmoniously.”

Khader said, “After Bhat issued the statement, I have received more invitations from temples not only in my constituency, but also from neighbouring constituencies. People will judge me based on my work in the past five years.”

Stating that there is confusion among the public on the model code of conduct, the minister urged the district administration to hold a workshop on the do’s and don’ts for religious leaders and the organisers of various religious and social programmes in the district.
