Navoor village accountant in Lokayukta trap

Bantwal, Oct 31, 2011 :The Lokayukta police arrested a retired assistant and a village accountant in Navoor GP on October 31 Monday for allegedly accepting bribes.

The arrested are VA Honnappa and his father Victor, who though retired, is alleged to handle Honnappa’s affairs. The duo was caught red-handed while accepting bribes from a woman. They have also been produced in court.

Reportedly, the two had demanded Rs. 5000 from Sunitha for transferring a title deed. Sunitha had paid Rs. 2000 and had to pay Rs. 3000 on Oct 31 Monday. Before doing so, she lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta.

 The Lokayukta team comprised SP Jagamanyyanavar, DySP Varnekar, and SI Uday Nayak.
