Mangalore, Sep 21, 2014: Mahathobhara Shri Mangaladevi Temple of Mangalore will celebrate Navarathri festival from September 25 to October 5.
Mangalore Mayor Mahabala Marla will inaugurate the festival on September 25, at 9 am. MLA J R Lobo will inaugurate the cultural programmes at 6 pm. MCC Corporator Premananda Shetty will be chief guest for the occasion. Various religious rituals including Lalitha Panchami (Sept 29), Chandika Homa, Ranga Pooja, Rathothsava (Oct 3), Avabhrutha Mangala Snana (Oct 5), Satyanarayana Pooja (Oct 6) will be held during the festival. Formal stage programme will be organised as a part of valedictory, on October 5, at 7.30 pm. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will be the chief guest. Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake will preside over the function, while MLC Ivan D’Souza, ADC Sadashiva Prabhu, Deputy Mayor Kavitha Vasu and Corporator Ratikala will be the guests.
On September 28, the temple will organise folk cultural competitions and interested can register their names. Around 800 artistes would participate in 10-days of cultural programme.
