Naturopathy and yoga need more research

Mangaluru, May 4, 2017: Dr K S Ravindranath, vice chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, is reported to have said that Naturopathy and Yoga have no side effects. More awareness needs to be created regarding this, along with more research and publications .


NaturopathyHe was speaking during the annual day of SDM Naturopathy and Yogic Science College in Ujire, Last year, the university has released Rs 10 crore grants for research and this year, Rs 20 crore will be released for the same.

He expressed his regret on the dwindling quality in education field due to commercialisation. He said only 50% of the colleges have been providing quality education. New guidelines have been formed to give permissions to start new colleges.  He meanwhile called upon the doctors to follow professional ethics. There is a need for better communication between the doctors and the patients.

Lifestyle change : Presiding over the programme, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade said that many people succumb to diseases which occur due to modern lifestyle. Balanced food diet is essential to maintain good health. Association with spirituality improves mental health, he opined.
