Kundapur, May 12, 2020: Eleven persons of Kundapur origin who were returning to Kundapur from Mumbai by a Tempo Traveller after obtaining pass through Sevasindhu, had a narrow escape when their vehicle all of a sudden was engulfed in flames on the evening of May 11, Monday.
The 11 members of the family of Keshav Poojary of Aloor in Kundapur who were residing in Bhandup in Mumbai had availed permission to travel to Kundapur and were thus on their way when fire was noticed in the vehicle as it reached Lonavala. The driver immediately stopped the vehicle sand sent all the occupants a little away. In a matter of seconds the entire vehicle was gutted.
It is believed that the engine of the vehicle got heated up due to continuous travel for three and a half hours in the scorching heat. The family members who were left in the lurch on the road finally contacted the personal assistant of DK District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary. The minister later informed the local organisations and with the help of the police the family was taken upto Nippani. From there the family reached hometown in the vehicle arranged by the minister.
