Narendra Nayak demands speedy justice on RTI activist Vinayak Baliga’s murder

Mangaluru Mar 30, 2016: Prof Narendra Nayak demanded a special investigation team headed by a honest IPS officer for the speedy justice on Vinayak Baliga murder case.

Addressing he press on Wednesday, March 30, he strongly condemned the murder of RTI activist Vinayak Baliga. A strong message is been sent to the society by his murder on whoever raise voice against any violation. Baliga was murdered by professional killers. Who hired them and why?  These are the questions that need to be answered he said.

Baliga had questioned a number of builders for violation of the rules out of interest for the citizens, but a few of us raised our voices on his behalf. He had also questioned the management of the school near by his home because they blocked the road by parking and they had also violated the laws by building nearly twice the area that was sanctioned, said Narendra Nayak

He further said that, Baliga wanted the streets to be sewage free as a large complex of nearly 360 flats near his home had not put up a sewage treatment plant as required under the law and it has still not become functional, but no one living on that road condemned his murder.


There was hearing regarding Sharada Vidyalaya building for which demolition orders had been issued but just before the hearing of the case, Baliga was brutally murdered, he added.

He had also questioned and filed a case against Venkataramana Temple on  misappropriation of funds during the renovation of the temple also sought re-audited for the account.

Ganesh Baliga, who was an accomplice of Vinayak Baliga said tha, there was no personal grudge or personal profit in raising voice against the temple violation but Baliga had the intension for the transparent functioning of the temple. Baliga had been receiving threatening calls ever since he stepped in to this field but he never stepped back and fought against the misappropriation. The High Court has ordered to re-audit the account from 2007 to 2015 for which a new auditor also been appointed for the same. 

Munir Katipalla said that as per police department the two detained are supari killers but police are delaying to reveal the master mind behind the murder. He demanded to hand over the case to special investigation team for speedy justice.

Vinayak Baliga’s father Ramachandra Baliga, Mother Jayanthi Baliga, Brother in Law Nithyananda Baliga, Sister Anuradha Baliga, DYFI member Santhosh Bajal, Nithin Kuttar, Vasudev Uchhila, and others were present.
