Mangaluru, Jan 01, 2018 : Eminent rationalist and President of Federation of Indian Rationalists’ Association has lodged a complaint with Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, alleging that the Hat Hill Officers’ Club located in the midst of gazetted officers quarters at Hat Hill, Mangalore has been persistently causing noise pollution and disturbances to the residents of the surrounding areas on many occasions round the year.
" Despite several communications to them and complaints to the police station they have been causing noise pollution and disturbances to the residents of the locality," the complaint said adding he had earlier complained to the Deputy Commissioner and the jurisdictional police station on January 1 last year alleging that the Club was using amplifying systems. He has also pointed that he, in his pervious complaint dated 1/01/2017 he had sent the links to the videos he had taken and that this time he has attached the screen shots of the noise levels recorded at various times on the night of 31/01/2017 before 10 pm in the locality when a party was underway there.
Pic 1: Noise levels outside the compound of the Hat Hill Officers’ Club at 22.28 hours on 31st Dec 2017(87.4 dB); Pic 2: Noise levels on at 21.58 hours.(79 dB); Pic 3: Noise levels on at 22.41 hours.(74 dB) at Noel park, Microwave station road common area parking space.
Location where the new year party of Hat Hill Officers’ Club was underway.
"Since the area is a residential area the night time noise levels are not to be more than 55 dB before 10 pm and 45dB after that and the maximum allowable for even a licensed sound system are +10 dB over the same. It is observed that the sound levels as per attached screen shots are all above the permitted levels. These offences have been committed by them despite complaining to them since several years over the telephone and by mail," Prof. Nayak said in his complaint to the Deputy Commissioner and has sought suitable action in this case.
