Narayana Guru’s fight was for backward classes, Minister Kota

Mangaluru, September 15, 2019: Karnataka Minister for Fisheries, Port and Inland Water Transport Kota Srinivas Poojary, addressing the gathering at Brahmasri Narayana Guru Jayanthi organised jointly by the district administration, zilla panchayat, department of Kannada and Culture and Kudroli Gokarnanatha Kshetra,  C Suvarna hall in Kudroli Gokarnanatha Temple premises, voiced his mind saying Brahmasri Narayana Guru is not restricted to a single community . He went on to stress that it was Narayana Guru who infused strength to the voiceless community.

The Minister said that  Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa will be urged to set up a separate corporation for backward classes in the name of Narayana Guru.

MLA U T Khader said that there is urgent need to create awareness on the principles practised by Narayana Guru. Narayana Guru strived hard to get social justice to deprived classes at a time when untouchability and caste system prevailed in the society. The teachings propagated by Narayana Guru will help in understanding humanity in a better way.”

Keshava Bangera, the Kannada lecturer in Kudroli Gokarnanatha PU College, said Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore were inspired by the 20th century saint reformer Narayana Guru.
