Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, March 27, 2015: Speaking to media during his visit to the city on March 27, Friday, Union minister for chemicals and fertilizers Ananth Kumar stated  that  MCF - Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers will run on naphtha till the work on natural gas connection is completed.

He proceeded to say, that the Narendra Modi government has given MCF a second chance to survive. In 2007, UPA government promised to complete the pipeline connection in two years and discontinue  the naphtha-based system on June 31, 2014. Seven years passed the pipeline work is yet incomplete. Though great  ministers like Oscar Fernandes and Veerappa Moily hail from Mangaluru, they have not given paid attention to MCF.

He added present  MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, after Modi government’s coming to power, showed care for MCF and approached to  discuss ways of saving MCF. In the cabinet meetings this issue was put up that providing natural gas through barge or by road would be impractical, it was recommended that MCF will run on naphtha-based system till it is given natural gas connection under the ministry of chemicals and fertilizers.

On the subject of  controversy surround the death of IAS officer D K Ravi in Bangalore, Ananth Kumar said that death of the  IAS officer has disturbed everybody. Chief minister Siddaramaiah should have handed over the case to the CBI on the very next day of the death. CM Siddaramaiah is being questioned by others on who he is trying to protect and the reason for the delay. All these questions could have been avoided if he had given the case to the CBI in the first place.   BJP district president Prathapsimha Nayak, Yogish Bhat, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Nagaraj Shetty and others were present on this occasion and was to attend other programmes too .
