Many people participated in the contest and created attractive goodu deepas out of colored paper, bamboo, and colored lights in the traditional, modern, and unique categories. Some goodu deepas were especially attractive since they were made of birds’ nests, pulses, vegetables, and aquariums.

The winners of the first and the second prizes received a gold medal each; and everybody who participated received consolation prizes. B. Janardhana Poojary, former member of the Rajya Sabha, distributed the prizes to the winners of the contest during the valedictory ceremony.

Mr. Navaneet Shetty Kadri and Mr. Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli, the television presenters, compered the programme. Karkera brothers, Raghavendra Kulur, and Sairam, the television producers, and K P Nanjundi, the small screen artiste, were also present at the occasion.
