NITK gets Rooftop Solar Power Plant

Mangaluru, Nov 10, 2016: National Institute of Technology (NITK) Surathkal has signed a power purchase agreement as per this agreement Clean max agency have set up 1MW grid connected rooftop solar power plant on 11 academic administrative and NITK buildings of NITK Surathkal, informed Director NITK KN Lokesh.

Addressing media at NITK on Thursday November 10, he said that this rooftop solar power plant will be launched on November 12. As per the agreement NITK Surathkal will purchase power generated from these roof top plants set up by clean max on tariff for 25 years.

He further said that, this plant will be set up on RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company) model in which clean max solar will install maintain and sell the power to NITK for 25 years. This helps to reduce the power intake from the MESCOM and for implementation of sustainable technologies in NITK campus. Through this project NITK can save up 5 lakhs per month, he added.

Convocation ceremony


National Institute of Technology will organize 14th Annual Convocation on November 12th. Chairman and CEO Pepsi Co India D Shiva Kumar will deliver convocation address. Total of 1576 students will be awarded with Convocation out of which B.Tech 802, M.Tech 544, MCA 90, MBA 37, MSc Chemistry 32, MSc Physics 22 and Phd 55 students will be awarded with Convocation.
